From the great plains of the United States we are proud to
present Wild Idea Buffalo! The tale of this native
herbivore, hunted to near extinction at the beginning of the 20th
century, is a story we all know. But most of us have never had an
opportunity to taste this healthy and delicious meat raised exactly
as it should be on open range. Wild Idea Buffalo is grown and
harvested literally as it was hundreds of years ago when they
dominated the plains. These animals never see the inside of a
feedlot or a slaughterhouse.
The Buffalo are reared to full maturity to develop the
intramuscular fat needed to make their meat as tasty and tender as
possible. They mate naturally, and are given no hormones, or
antibiotics in keeping with the Heritage philosophy. What's more
they make a significant contribution to the eco-system of the
range, returning it to its original state after decades of
depredation by cattle herding and farming.
Buffalo meat has a rich beefy flavor with a bass note of
minerality that reflects the high iron content provided by their
all-grass diet. Very low in saturated fats, buffalo meat has always
enjoyed a reputation for being the healthiest of the red meats.
